Monsters You Should Know by Emma Sancartier (book review).
Now here’s a book for your under six year-old sprogs to read and keep them checking under the bed to make sure there are no monsters there. Emma Sancartier brings you some simply painted and minimal texted ‘Monsters You Should Know’ as a glossary to some 17 world-wide mythological creatures out there that are not quite what they seem. Some are apparently nice until they reveal their true colours. Of them all, I only recognise the kelpie and had to make a stab at a few names. Does anyone know how to pronounce ‘ihuaivulu’ outside of South America?
I trust you parents should read this book first and then to your junior kids before letting them loose on it on their own. It might also be a way to see if they’ll follow in your footsteps into our genre. Whatever, don’t let these creatures in for a bite.
