Alien Romulus unleashes the Cosmic Horror (scifi movie: trailer).

Just when you thought it was safe to float back into the cosmos, along comes Alien: Romulus to snap us out of our space age daydreams and straight into the drooling jaws of our worst nightmares. Set in that oh-so-comfy timeline between the original screamfest Alien and its trigger-happy sequel Aliens, this interstellar scare-fare promises to deliver the kind of goosebumps that could survive zero gravity.

In this latest cosmic caper, a gaggle of fresh-faced space colonizers, presumably taught nothing by the entire history of really bad space outcomes, decide to poke around a space station as dead as last year’s party balloons. And who could blame them? Space rent’s a killer, and one man’s abandoned orbital outpost is another man’s fixer-upper opportunity. But lo and behold, they stumble upon none other than the universe’s least-welcome pet: the Xenomorph. Directed by the maestro of menace, Fede Alvarez, known for making audiences drop their popcorn with Evil Dead and Don’t Breathe, this installment also comes with the producing prowess of the legendary Ridley Scott. Add to that a cocktail of emerging stars like Cailee Spaeny, David Jonsson, and Isabela Merced, and you’ve got yourself a recipe for edge-of-your-seat thrills.

Scheduled to catapult out of the shadows and onto the big screen by 20th Century Studios this August 16th, 2024, Alien: Romulus marks the franchise’s latest, possibly greatest, attempt to remind us all why we should be very, very afraid of the dark—and outer space, and abandoned space stations, and, well, pretty much everything.

So, mark your calendars, keep your motion trackers handy, and whatever you do—don’t go into the air vents. Because Alien: Romulus is set to turn a casual space jaunt into a full-on, scream-laden survival spree. In space, no one can hear you scream, but in cinemas worldwide, the shrieks will be music to Alien fans’ ears.
