Star Trek: Lower Decks beams down August 2020 (news).

The Star Trek animated comedy series, Star Trek: Lower Decks, is now to beam down on US TV sets this August, thanks to Mike McMahan of Rick and Morty and Solar Opposites-fame.

Star Trek: Lower Decks will be the first animated Star Trek series since the 1973–74 Star Trek: The Animated Series.

This comedy take on the Trek franchise follows the support crew of the U.S.S. Cerritos in the year 2380.

Tawny Newsome, Jack Quaid, Noël Wells, and Eugene Cordero voice “lower decks” crew members of the Cerritos, with Dawnn Lewis, Jerry O’Connell, Fred Tatasciore, and Gillian Vigman also providing voices for the series.

The first season of Star Trek: Lower Decks is set to debut in the USA via the CBS paid streaming service on August 6th 2020 and will consist of 10 episodes.

No news yet if there is to be a wider non-US release via Netflix (or even Prime).
