Star Trek Lower Decks looks to move the Star Trek franchise into Simpsons comedy territory, with an animated format series just for Vulcan laughs – or should that be Klingon shits and giggles? Well, time will tell.
The new series has a bunch of photos out via the current Comic-Con publicity machine. It will be set in the Next Generation age and feature the junior ranks of the U.S.S. Cerritos – do expect sanitation engineers, rather than bridge crew, though.
Mike McMahan of Rick and Morty fame who created this new cartoon work announced a ten-episode series one hitting in mid-2020.
Casted for this are: Tawny Newsome (Ensign Beckett Mariner), Jack Quaid (Ensign Brad Boimler), Eugene Cordero (Ensign Rutherford), Dawnn Lewis (Captain Carol Freeman), Noël Wells (Ensign Tendi), Fred Tatasciore (Lieutenant Shaxs), Jerry O’Connell (Commander Jack Ransom) and Gillian Vigman (Doctor T’Ana).
