Abigail: kidnappers vs. vampire in a chilling new monster movie (trailer).

Prepare yourselves for Abigail, the upcoming horror flick that’s less “Once upon a time” and more “Once upon a nightmare.” Directed by the dynamic duo Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, and penned by the masterful Stephen Shields and Guy Busick, this isn’t your grandma’s bedtime story. The plot? A twisty modern-day homage to the 1936 classic, Dracula’s Daughter, but with a few more… bite marks. Imagine this: a group of kidnappers, probably thinking they’re in the next big heist movie, abduct what they think is a typical 12-year-old ballerina. Plot twist – she’s the daughter of Count Dracula. Talk about an occupational hazard!

Starring the fearless Melissa Barrera as one of the not-so-bright kidnappers, and Alisha Weir as the titular Abigail, who probably has more fangs than friends. And let’s not forget the rest of the star-studded cast – Dan Stevens, Kathryn Newton, Kevin Durand, the late Angus Cloud in a posthumous appearance that’s sure to give you chills, William Catlett, and Giancarlo Esposito. They all sign up for what they think is an easy payday, only to find themselves in a horror movie cliché of epic proportions.

These would-be criminals soon discover they’re not just locked in with a little girl; they’re locked in with Dracula’s little girl. As the captors start disappearing faster than free snacks at a party, they realize babysitting a vampire’s daughter is no walk in the park. The mansion setting? Perfect for a game of hide-and-seek, if ‘seek’ means trying not to be found… ever.

Developed by Radio Silence Productions, the same folks who gave you those screams in the Scream films, and filmed in the eerily picturesque Dublin, Ireland, Abigail promises a delightful mix of horror, humor, and “why did I think babysitting a vampire was a good idea?”

Mark your calendars for April 19th, 2024. Abigail is not just a film; it’s a lesson in why you should always do a background check before kidnapping someone. Especially if they’re related to Dracula.
