The Green Knight: fantasy movie trailer (Arthurian legend goes back to Vance’s Lyonesse).

At last, an Arthurian fantasy movie that ejects the faux-Middle Earth feels for the strange spirit of Jack Vance’s Lyonesse trilogy of books, with a side-dollop of the wet mist-soaked vision of John Boorman’s 1981 film, Excalibur. Kudos to the movie’s director, David Lowery.

Yes, in The Green Knight, we see Dev Patel as a gallant of the round-table who must go on a quest to defeat a demon knight who survived a twee game of cut-me-head-off, and is returning in a year to collect a demon’s price.

Weird. Bonkers. Beautiful. Can’t wait to see this film in the cinema when it arrives on July 30th, 2021.
