The Fifth Element: beautiful and bonkers (a scifi film retrospective).

C.D. is here to bring you couch spuds a retro review of that most beautiful, bonkers, and bad scifi work of crazed genius that was The Fifth Element. Directed and co-written by Luc Besson, this film starred Bruce Willis, Gary Oldman, and Milla Jovovich.

Set in the 23rd century, the film’s plot involves the survival of the galaxy which oddly becomes the responsibility of lowlife Korben Dallas (Willis), an anti-gravity taxicab driver and former special forces soldier, when a beautiful and strange young woman (Jovovich) falls into his cab.

To accomplish his quest, Dallas joins forces with her to recover four mystical stones essential for the defence of Earth against the impending attack of a malevolent cosmic entity.
