Star Trek: Discovery season 5 (new trailer).

Set your phasers to fun, because Star Trek: Discovery Season 5 is warping into your streaming galaxy on Paramount+ in April 2024. Before we beam up to the new adventures, let’s take a little trip through the wormhole to remember what’s happened so far. Buckle up; it’s been a bumpy ride through space and time.

Created by Bryan Fuller and Alex Kurtzman, Star Trek: Discovery brought us back to the beloved universe, but with a twist. We’re not in Kansas, or the 23rd century, anymore. After two seasons of time-hopping, universe-flipping shenanigans, Season 3 catapulted the crew of the USS Discovery into the 32nd century. And let’s just say, they weren’t in Starfleet anymore.

The series follows Michael Burnham, played by Sonequa Martin-Green, who has risen through the ranks from science specialist to captain. Burnham’s journey has been anything but smooth sailing, involving wars, rogue AIs, and a good deal of emotional baggage – because what’s a Star Trek series without a little drama?

Joining Burnham is a crew that’s more diverse than a bag of Skittles. There’s the ever-lovable Saru, played by Doug Jones, who brings a whole new meaning to the phrase ‘tall, dark, and handsome.’ Then there’s Anthony Rapp’s Paul Stamets, the brain behind the Spore Drive, and Mary Wiseman’s Sylvia Tilly, who’s gone from cadet to commander and provided more comic relief than a stand-up comedy night at the Starfleet Academy. Remember Season 1, when the Klingon War was all the rage and Burnham was busy getting court-martialed? Ah, good times. Season 2 had us chasing after mysterious signals and dealing with the Red Angel, all while facing a rogue AI bent on destroying all sentient life. Casual stuff, really.

The third season had the crew dealing with the aftermath of a cataclysmic event called the Burn. By Season 4, we had space anomalies, unknown aliens, and the crew of the Discovery trying to rebuild the fragmented Federation.

Now, Season 5 promises a galactic adventure to find an ancient power. Because what’s a space journey without a quest for mysterious cosmic forces? The crew, alongside new and old faces, will navigate the usual mix of interstellar challenges, moral dilemmas, and maybe, just maybe, some time to sip a cup of replicated coffee.

So, get ready to join Captain Burnham and her crew on their final journey through the stars. It’s been a wild ride, and if the past is any indication, Star Trek: Discovery will go out with a bang. Or a warp. Or a spore drive jump. You get the idea.
