The Boys season 4 for this superhero TV series (new trailer).
Hold onto your capes, The Boys fans, because season 4 is blasting onto Amazon Prime Video in 2024. For those of you who’ve been living under a rock (or just have better things to do), let’s do a quick recap of the chaos, carnage, and downright craziness that The Boys has blessed us with so far.
Developed by Eric Kripke and based on the comics by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, The Boys is not your average superhero show. Imagine a world where superheroes are more corrupt than politicians and more dangerous than a toddler with a permanent marker. That’s right, it’s a satirical take on the whole caped crusader shtick.
Season 1 introduced us to The Boys, a ragtag group of vigilantes led by the gruff and perpetually angry Billy Butcher, played with a permanent scowl by Karl Urban. Butcher’s got a personal vendetta against Homelander, the leader of The Seven (Vought International’s premier superhero team), who’s basically Superman if Superman was a sociopathic narcissist. Antony Starr plays Homelander with the kind of charm that makes you want to punch him and run away. Fast.
Then there’s Hughie Campbell, played by Jack Quaid, who joins The Boys after his girlfriend becomes collateral damage in a supe incident. The Seven also has Starlight (Erin Moriarty), the beacon of hope who quickly realizes she’s joined a team of morally bankrupt heroes. Seasons 2 and 3 just upped the ante with more supes, more explosions, and more questionable decisions. We’ve seen heads explode, whales impaled, and a superhero orgy (because why not?). We met Stormfront, a social media-savvy supe with a dark past, and Soldier Boy, the original American hero who’s more American than apple pie and just as problematic. Now, season 4 is set to roll in with the same over-the-top action, dark humor, and a dose of social commentary. Expect the unexpected because if there’s one thing The Boys is good at, it’s surprising its audience. Well, that and making us question our moral compass.
Returning for season 4 are our favorites, including Urban’s Butcher, Quaid’s Hughie, and Starr’s Homelander, along with new faces. Nathan Mitchell, despite his character’s demise, will be back as a new Black Noir, because in The Boys, even death isn’t a career-ender.
Filming for season 4 has wrapped up, with the cast and crew probably needing a well-deserved break from all the superhero shenanigans. And if Eric Kripke’s tweets are anything to go by, they’re holding onto the new season until some real-world issues are sorted out.
So, get ready for another season of diabolical antics with The Boys. It’s the superhero show for people who are tired of superhero shows. Just don’t get too attached to anyone – in the world of The Boys, no one is safe. Not even the dolphin.
