Star Trek Picard gets rolled for second season (TV news)

The new TV series Star Trek Picard has now been rolled for second season.

Head honcho Julie McNamara over at CBS has told The Hollywood Reporter, “The energy and excitement around the premiere of Star Trek: Picard has reached a magnitude greater than all of us at CBS All Access could have hoped for. We’re thrilled to announce plans for a second season before the series’ debut, and we are confident that Star Trek fans and new viewers alike will be captured by the stellar cast and creative team’s meticulously crafted story when it premieres on January 23rd 2021.”

Let’s hope they can stick to that date with all the production-related woes swirling around the pandemic-closed world.

  • Potential spoiler – I thought this had been renewed already – Patrick Stewart was on a daytime tv show which has Whoopi Goldberg as a regular/presenter in which he invited her to appear as Guinan in Season 2. Of course that may have been the ‘informal’ renewal noted in the article.

The Guardian today has an interesting rumination on Picard v the original Star Trek optimism… I’d give you the link but it makes my post spam, it seems. The article was in yesterday’s Guardian, I think.
