CW network’s secret weapon: Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along!
In all the history of secret weapons – from the V2 rocket to Ming the Merciless crashing moons into Earth – there can be none more potent than the piece of superhero-themed musical geekdom that is Joss Whedon’s Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog, with Neil Patrick Harris, Felicia Day and Nathan Fillion.
CW Network is making with a roster of new shows, and the first proper TV broadcast (admittedly edited down) of Joss Wheadon’s 3-part geek opera could be just the ticket to get fans tuning in later this year during October (the 9th; if you’re planning to tune in).
The president of the CW Network, Mark Pedowitz, has also hinted that if a Dr. Horrible sequel is to splash across TV, it’s his network that will be backing its production.
Of course, Joss made this during the Writers Guild of America strike back in 2007 when he had nothing else to do; and this musical is believed by the superstitious to bring bad luck to networks. Break a leg, Mark.
