Amazon’s Lord of the Rings TV series gets some Sauron-shaped meat on its bones (news).

Those connoisseurs of all things Lord of the Rings-related, theonering.net, have just been leaked the verified synopsis for the upcoming multi-million budget TV series based on the Lord of the rings books, prequel style. Thank you Amazon and thank you, Jeff Bezos.

Let’s face it, with the rate that the Big A. is coining it in as the sole corporate supplier of all things globally to the rest of us, while the freaking governments of the planet shut down every small business going, Jeff should be giving us a subscription to Amazon Prime for free!

The synopsis for the TV series seems to relate, of course, to the big bad, a.k.a. Sauron. But will it have hobbits in, my precious? If it doesn’t have any of my hairy-footed friends, to leven my mood during these gloomy dark times we live in, I don’t quite know how I’m going to cope, to be honest.

Oh well, the light of the world will no doubt shine through somehow.

Here it is:

Amazon Studios’ forthcoming series brings to screens for the very first time the heroic legends of the fabled Second Age of Middle-earth’s history. This epic drama is set thousands of years before the events of J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, and will take viewers back to an era in which great powers were forged, kingdoms rose to glory and fell to ruin, unlikely heroes were tested, hope hung by the finest of threads, and the greatest villain that ever flowed from Tolkien’s pen threatened to cover all the world in darkness. Beginning in a time of relative peace, the series follows an ensemble cast of characters, both familiar and new, as they confront the long-feared re-emergence of evil to Middle-earth. From the darkest depths of the Misty Mountains, to the majestic forests of the elf-capital of Lindon, to the breathtaking island kingdom of Númenor, to the furthest reaches of the map, these kingdoms and characters will carve out legacies that live on long after they are gone.
