Knights of the Zodiac: not the manga, but a live action film, now (trailer).

Once upon a time in the distant land of comic-book adaptions, a film was born that would change the course of cinematic history, or at least give you a solid two hours of entertainment. Knights of the Zodiac, an action-fantasy flick based on the classic manga Saint Seiya, has descended upon our screens like a glittering meteor shower.

Directed by Tomek Bagiński and brought to life by screenwriters Josh Campbell, Matt Stuecken, and Kiel Murray, this cosmic adventure is set to hit Japanese cinemas on April 28th 2023 and beam its way to the United States on May 12th 2023.

The premise is simple but intriguing. A goddess of war reincarnates in the body of a young girl, and street orphan Seiya (played by the charismatic Mackenyu) finds himself thrust into the role of her protector. His mission? To save the world, of course! But first, he must face his past and transform into a Knight of the Zodiac.

Speaking of transformations, if you’re a fan of Sean Bean, you’re in for a treat. Bean stars as Alman Kiddo, a character whose fate is (spoiler alert) shockingly NOT sealed with a grisly demise. Mark your calendars, folks—this is a historic event!

The celestial cast doesn’t end there. Madison Iseman takes on the divine role of Sienna/Athena, while Diego Tinoco brings fiery intensity as Nero. Famke Janssen, Nick Stahl, and Mark Dacascos round out this constellation of stars, leaving no doubt that this film will shine brightly in the cinematic heavens.

It took more than a little divine intervention to bring this film to life. Saint Seiya author Masami Kurumada had dreams of a live-action adaptation for years. After a bumpy road to production, the planets finally aligned, and filming took place in Hungary in 2021 with a budget of $60 million.

Will Seiya become a Knight of the Zodiac? Can this ragtag group of heroes save the world? And, most importantly, will Sean Bean survive the entire film? There’s only one way to find out! Grab some popcorn, strap in, and prepare for a weird ride through the cosmos with Knights of the Zodiac.
