Howl’s Moving Castle gets a walking model (kit news).

Here’s a piece of kit to tickle the fancy of all you anime fans out there. This new Moving Howl Castle model offers a representation of the iconic castle from Howl’s Moving Castle. This model, which showcases a high level of detail and careful painting, captures the essence of the film’s unique architecture.

A notable feature is the back entrance of the castle, reminiscent of the one used by Sophie in the film. This entrance functions as a push-in switch, adding an interactive element to the model. Inside the castle’s mouth, fans will appreciate the inclusion of Calcifer, the castle’s power source, complete with a subtle flickering light.

The movement mechanics of the model are designed to mimic the irregular and whimsical movements of the castle as seen in the movie. Viewers can observe the upper dome and eaves swinging side to side, with each part moving in an asymmetric manner. The legs of the castle also exhibit a walking motion, albeit in a restrained and measured way.

This model is an interesting piece for fans of the film, offering both a visual and interactive experience. A cool tribute to the imaginative world created by Hayao Miyazaki, brought to life through design and engineering. In the whimsical world of anime, few abodes can match the charm and peculiarity of the walking castle from Howl’s Moving Castle. This isn’t your average, run-of-the-mill castle. Oh no. This one takes ‘mobile home’ to a whole new, literal level.

Picture this: a castle that strolls on chicken-like legs, towering over the countryside like a Victorian-era Transformer. It’s the architectural equivalent of putting wheels on a palace and then forgetting to add the brakes. The castle, a brainchild of the eccentric wizard Howl, is less of a statement in medieval grandeur and more of a ‘what on earth was he thinking?’ marvel.

Now, the castle’s interior design is what you’d get if a wizard tripped into an antique store and decided, ‘I’ll take one of everything, thank you.’ It’s like a hoarder’s paradise, but with magic! Doors that open into different towns? Check. A fire demon powering the whole shebang? Absolutely. Health and safety regulations? Probably not.

Let’s not forget about the castle’s exterior, a hodgepodge of mismatched parts that looks like it was assembled during a particularly wild garage sale. It’s as if Howl said, ‘I want my castle to be mobile,’ and his contractors took him way too literally. The castle lurches through the landscape with the grace of a sleepy elephant, occasionally spewing steam like a teapot having an existential crisis.

Despite its quirks, the castle has its own rustic, if not slightly haphazard, charm. It’s the kind of place where you’d lose your socks and maybe find a long-lost cousin living in a forgotten turret. Visitors might initially be wary, but let’s face it, who wouldn’t want to stay in a walking castle? It’s an Airbnb experience waiting to happen.

You can pick up yours from https://www.donguri-sora.com/item/47662.html for Yen 22,000 – which currently equates to c. £119 in our fine British pounds.
