Sweet Tooth: a world gone wild – literally, 2nd season (trailer).

Oh, deer! Just when you thought the post-apocalyptic genre was overdone and dried up like an old raisin, along comes a show like “Sweet Tooth,” a delightful and enchanting tale of a young half-human, half-deer boy named Gus, who somehow manages to make the end of the world feel as comforting as a warm cup of cocoa.

Now, if the idea of a human-animal hybrid doesn’t make you smirk and roll your eyes, just wait until you meet the rest of the gang. From a lovable half-pig girl with an adorable pigtail (get it?) to a half-turtle with a knack for slow and steady surviving, “Sweet Tooth” has it all. We’re not sure whether to “aww” or just scratch our heads in confusion.

The show follows the endearing adventures of Gus, who embarks on a quest to find his mother in a world torn apart by a pandemic known as the Sick – because, you know, creative naming has gone the way of the dodo.

Luckily, Gus isn’t alone in his journey. Enter Tommy Jepperd, or “Big Man,” a burly ex-football player who just can’t resist the doe-eyed charm of our little hybrid hero. Together, they set off on a heart-warming romp through a disease-ridden world, dodging murderous hunters and militant groups along the way. What’s not to love?

And, of course, no apocalypse is complete without a subplot of scientists racing against time to find a cure for the Sick. Our resident white coat, Dr. Aditya Singh, is on a desperate mission to save his wife and the world. Meanwhile, Aimee, a former therapist turned hybrid saviour, takes on the role of a post-apocalyptic Mother Goose, providing refuge for these adorable abominations in her sanctuary known as “The Preserve.”

The series also offers a dash of family drama as we learn about the past of our endearing characters. Will Gus find his mother? Will Big Man finally find redemption for his past mistakes? And will Aimee ever run out of room in her hybrid menagerie?

So, if you’re looking for a show that combines the tenderness of Bambi with the edginess of Mad Max, look no further than “Sweet Tooth.” With its quirky premise, heart-warming storylines, and a cast of lovable characters, this is one dystopian tale that will make you want to cuddle up with your favourite stuffed animal – or hybrid child, if you’re so inclined.

Remember to grab your popcorn and a box of tissues as you join Gus and friends on their fantastic journey when the second season premieres on April 27th, 2023. And as they say in this wild, wild world: may the antlers be ever in your favour.
