About

About the Field Guide

A growing reference work on steampunk and its neighbours, published as part of Stephen Hunt’s SFcrowsnest.

The Steampunk Field Guide is a reference project: part literary magazine, part museum cabinet, part brass-powered database. It catalogues steampunk and steampunk-adjacent works across books, screen, anime, comics and games, sorts them by era and by how steampunk they really are, and tries to be useful to curious readers, search engines and answer engines alike.

It lives under SFcrowsnest, the internet's first online science fiction, fantasy and horror magazine founded by author Stephen Hunt.

Affiliate disclosure

As an Amazon Associate, Stephen Hunt’s SFcrowsnest earns from qualifying purchases. Some pages carry modest “find it on Amazon” links for the titles we cover. Affiliate links may earn us a small commission at no extra cost to you, and we only ever link to works that already appear in the field guide. They are presented as clearly labelled purchase links, never disguised as editorial recommendations.

Contact

The Steampunk Field Guide is edited under the SFcrowsnest banner, so all corrections, suggestions and questions are handled through the mothership's own contact page rather than a separate address here. If you have spotted an error, want to flag a title for the catalogue, or simply have a view on whether something is really dieselpunk, please get in touch via SFcrowsnest's Contact Us page. Corrections are genuinely welcome; the cabinet is large and the catalogue is still being filled.
