As Nolan’s son, Mark is also pulled into the investigation of their deaths, and he starts to question his father’s true nature.

In the end, Mark’s father, Nolan, reveals that he is a Viltrumite, an alien race of superpowered beings, and he explains to Mark that he killed the Guardians of the Globe as part of his mission to conquer Earth. Mark is left to come to terms with this revelation and the implications it has for his own future as a superhero.

The season ends on a cliffhanger, with Mark’s father, Nolan, being captured by the Global Defense Agency, and Mark being left to ponder his future as a superhero.
