Humanity was created far earlier than it should have been – are Grabby aliens the cause? (science video)

Humanity seems tremendously evolved when you consider the challenges that basic dead matter must overcome before developing into a sophisticated society and the possibility that there are planets that are livable for billions of years. The great filter was invented in 1996 by Robin Hanson, who provides a solid justification: grabby aliens.

They are said to be civilizations that: 1. Extend from their origin planet at a rate less than the speed of light; 2. Change the environment significantly and visibly; and 3. Last for a very long period.

Because they set a deadline for other civilizations to emerge, such aliens explain why humans are so advanced. Civilizations that are not yet grabby, like ours, can only emerge early since eventually every habitable planet will be occupied.

In addition, life on Earth and humans seem grabby in many respects, making grabby civilizations feasible for a variety of additional reasons. When feasible, species, civilizations, and organisations tend to spread into new spheres of influence and regions, drastically altering their surroundings in the process.
