Enter The Anime (Netflix anime documentary: tight or tripe?)

There’s a new documentary out on Netflix called Enter The Anime, which has Tania Nolan looking to explain anime’s popularity by interviewing Shinji Aramaki, Kôzô Morishita and Yoko Takahashi, the creators behind Castlevania, Aggretsuko and Kengan Ashura.

It’s been rather slated by some fans complaining that all of the interviewees have worked on Netflix-licensed anime series, while no anime that is not licensed by Netflix was mentioned, rather hampering a detailed look at the whole genre.

Here’s some of the comments on Reddit

“Don’t waste your time watching some Shane Dawson level “Documentary” that’s actually an ad in disguise.”

“This plays out like a child’s book report more than a documentary. A book report they didn’t want to do.”

But it is on Netflix and it’s free (as an existing subscriber), so here goes anyway …!
