City of Last Chances by Adrian Tchaikovsky (fantasy book review: video format).

The Library of Allenxandria (hah, we saw what you did there) brings us his review of the new fantasy novel from Adrian Tchaikovsky, City of Last Chances.

Ilmar has always been gloomy, but never more so as at this time. The Palleseen occupation’s heavy hand, the city’s criminal underworld’s stranglehold, the factory owners’ boot, the weight of the city’s pitiful destitute, and the load of its ancient curse cause the city to chafe. What will be the conflagration’s ignition spark?

The Anchorwood, that shadowy grove of trees, that prehistoric relic, and that doorway to strange and far-off beaches during full moons, will once again serve as the spark for events despite the city’s refugees, wanderers, killers, crazy people, zealots, and thieves.
