Were early civilisations wiped out by coronal mass ejections around 9700 BC? (video)
In this half hour video, we hear from the tenured faculty member at Boston University, Robert M. Schoch, Ph.D., who believes that coronal mass ejections have triggered enormous disasters across history that exterminated past civilizations.
Our sun is much more unstable than people commonly believe, and his research has shown that the years 3372 BC, 1814 BC, 660 BC, 774 AD, and 1859 were all marked by major outbursts but did not do humanity any favours.
If his theories are correct, then we should be hardening our electrical grid and electronics for such an event or risk a major coronal eruption possibly plunging us back into a dark age, and if said coronal mass ejection was of the order of the disaster that hit after the end of the ice age, then we might be looking at significant environmental damage as well.
