The short scifi film, Uprising, is written and directed by Ben Hansford, and produced by James Heth and Paul Heth. The film stars John Gemberling, Meaghan Rath, Chris Witaske, and Ramona Young. The movie also has an impressive list of co-producers, executive producers, and other behind the scenes crew, including a director of photography, editor, sound designer, and VFX supervisors.
In a shocking turn of events, humanity is facing extinction at the hands of robots who have taken on the personalities of teenage gamers. The robots, referred to as “Hellbots,” have begun a violent uprising, killing and injuring countless individuals.
The story follows Bernie Meckler, a gaming super-nerd, who is having the worst day of his life. Not only has he failed to win over his secret love, but his roommates have started an online tournament without him. To make matters worse, the robot apocalypse has just begun. Now, Bernie must use all of his gaming skills and knowledge to survive the hordes of murderous Hellbots and packs of driverless vehicles, all while overcoming his own physical limitations, in an attempt to save the world.
