Star Trek Strange New Worlds, new TV series confirmed (news).

It’s official, Pike is back in the Enterprise, in the new Star Trek series for streaming TV, Star Trek Strange New Worlds – thanks, CBS Television.

Julie McNamara, Head of Programming at CBS All Access, told SFcrowsnest, “Fans fell in love with Anson Mount, Rebecca Romijn, and Ethan Peck’s portrayals of these iconic characters when they were first introduced on Star Trek: Discovery last season. This new series will be a perfect complement to the franchise, bringing a whole new perspective and series of adventures to Star Trek.”

The series will have Anson Mount as Captain Christopher Pike, Rebecca Romijn as Number One, and Ethan Peck as Science Officer Spock, exploring new worlds around the galaxy (much as the title suggests).

The series premiere has been written by Akiva Goldsman with the story by Goldsman, Alex Kurtzman, and Jenny Lumet.

Goldsman, Kurtzman, and Lumet will also serve as executive producers in addition to Henry Alonso Myers, Heather Kadin, Rod Roddenberry, and Trevor Roth.

Kurtzman confirmed that development on Strange New Worlds actually started in January 2020.

It should be noted that Star Trek Strange New Worlds was originally a science fiction anthology series of licensed, fan-written short stories published by Simon & Schuster from 1996 to 2016, edited by that guru of authordom, Dean Wesley Smith.
