Jim Starlin’s Warlock: a comic-book retrospective (video).

Ed and Jim are here to dive into the classic comic-book that is Jim Starlin’s Warlock. In the 1970s, Stan Lee and Jack Kirby’s Warlock was reimagined by Roy Thomas and Gil Kane as a Jesus Christ-like person on an other Earth, and Starlin then took up the title – bringing it to new heights.

Starlin wrote and illustrated an intricate space opera with religious and psychological issues, seeing the protagonist as philosophical and existentially afflicted. Warlock faced out against the military Universal Church of Truth, which was ultimately shown to have been founded and commanded by an evil version of his future-past self named Magus. In the end, Starlin decided to add Thanos to the plot.
