In the upcoming Dune: II movie, Christopher Walken will play the role of Emperor Shaddam (film news).

The Emperor Shaddam role has been filled in the Dune movie series. According to Deadline, actor Christopher Walken has been given a role in the highly anticipated sequel to the science fiction series that will be directed by Denis Villeneuve. Ha!

In 2001, Walken had an appearance in the music video for Fatboy Slim’s song “Weapon of Choice.” In the song, the lyrics “Walk without rhythm/and it won’t attract the worm” are a reference from the original Lynch science fiction movie version of Dune.

The second instalment in Villeneuve’s adaptation of the first novel in Frank Herbert’s Dune trilogy will find him behind the director’s chair once again. It seems probable that in the next instalment, we will see Paul (Chalamet) and Jessica (Ferguson) immerse themselves among the Fremen as the sandy beach (sorry, desert) planet Arrakis is thrown into political instability as a result of its aggressive takeover by House Harkonnen.

This struggle will be significantly impacted by Emperor Shaddam, who will be portrayed by Walken, and we cannot wait to see his dark bonkers interpretation of the role.

Back in the day, George Lucas entertained the idea of casting Walken as Han Solo in Star Wars; however, he finally decided to cast Harrison Ford in the role. In the 1985 film A View to a Kill, which was Roger Moore’s last outing as James Bond, Christopher Walken took on the role of Bond villain Max Zorin. To better blend in with Zorin’s history as a Nazi genetic experiment, Walken bleached his hair blonde.

Well, he’s properly made it into scifi, now, at the grand old age of 79!
