Hobbit movies? Just one more, begs Peter Jackson.

You have to hand it to director Peter Jackson for chutzpah. Not content with two films for the Hobbit, he’s now stretching it to three.

The news comes from Peter’s FaceBook page where he has just announced, “It has been an unexpected journey indeed, and in the words of Professor Tolkien himself, ‘A tale that grew in the telling’ Recently I did just this when we watched for the first time an early cut of the first movie – and a large chunk of the second. We were really pleased with the way the story was coming together, in particular, the strength of the characters and the cast who have brought them to life. All of which gave rise to a simple question, Do we take this chance to tell more of the tale? And the answer from our perspective as the film-maker, and as fans, was an unreserved ‘Yes.'”

The schedule will be as follows… Movie 1… Christmas 2012, Movie 2… Christmas 2013, Movie 3… Christmas 2014. Well, that should keep the seasonal cash-tills jingling in a manner likely to keep Santa busy with all the Games Workshop Hobbit wargame figures.
