Gen V: the Boys Universe expands as Supe School is in session (TV trailer).

Are you ready for a fresh batch of bright-eyed superheroes ready to learn the ropes of crime-fighting, only to find themselves entangled in the sinister underbelly of their beloved institution? Buckle up, folks, because Gen V is ready to catapult you back to the thrilling universe of “The Boys”, only this time the setting is eerily reminiscent of ‘Harry Potter meets Hunger Games’ with a dash of ‘Mean Girls’.

“Gen V”, or “The Boys: Fresh Meat Edition” as I like to call it, is slated to debut on Amazon Prime Video on September 29, 2023, and it is gearing up to be a more collegiate, less salacious, but equally snarky counterpart to its progenitor series. It is set in the hallowed halls of the Godolkin University School of Crimefighting, an institution where young superheroes, or “supes,” compete in battle royal challenges not just for bragging rights, but also to impress the overlords at Vought International.

Leading the class is Jaz Sinclair as Marie Moreau, who is a blood bender – essentially, a medical student’s worst nightmare and a vampire’s best friend. Then we have Chance Perdomo as Andre Anderson, a metal bender who’s as popular as a Wi-Fi signal in a remote area, and Lizze Broadway as Emma Shaw, a half-inch sized Supe who, when she’s not looking like a contestant for the Tiniest Avenger competition, has the ability to grow to regular size. There’s also Maddie Phillips as Cate Dunlap, a mind empath who is likely to make Professor X feel redundant, and Derek Luh and London Thor as Jordan, a gender-shifter who promises to take identity crises to the next level.

Intriguingly, there’s also an appearance by Patrick Schwarzenegger as Jason/Golden Boy, a popular student and fire manipulator. He might sound like a ‘hot’ prospect, but given this is the world of ‘The Boys’, there’s a decent chance he might get burned, both figuratively and literally.

“Gen V” is helmed by Craig Rosenberg, Evan Goldberg, and Eric Kripke, the crafty puppeteers who gave us ‘The Boys’. Going by their track record, we can expect that “Gen V” will serve us a generous helping of dark humor, action sequences that belong in a Jackson Pollock painting, and a biting commentary on celebrity culture and corporate greed.

So, here’s your chance to dive back into the world of The Boys and see if these fledgling supes will soar or if they’re doomed to be brought down by the machinations of Vought International. Will they embody the spirit of wholesome heroism or become a part of the ‘supes gone bad’ statistics? Only time (and perhaps some leaked confidential Vought documents) will tell.
