What is the Origin of the Universe? (science video)

John Michael Godier talks with Prof. Geraint F. Lewis about how through the elegance of mathematics, humanity have successfully deciphered much of the universe’s language during the past several centuries, investigating and characterising previously unknown phenomena such as electricity, magnetism, and matter. Some mysteries, however, remain beyond our comprehension, and seem to be outside the same rules and ideas we have depended on to make sense of the world we live in. The quantum, the realm of atoms and electrons, is inextricably linked to the cosmos, a universe made up of trillions of stars and galaxies… But it’s still a mystery how these two extremes of human cognition interact.
