Was RoboCop a scifi movie, or a crime movie, or a telling piss-take of modern society? Hey, why choose? Let’s look back at this seminal flick in a scifi movie retrospective.
The 1987 American science fiction action movie RoboCop, which was helmed by Paul Verhoeven, takes place in a violent Detroit. The main character of the near-future action movie RoboCop is police officer Alex Murphy (Weller), who is killed by a group of criminals and then brought back to life as the cyborg RoboCop by the megacorporation Omni Consumer Products. RoboCop conducts a merciless anti-crime crusade while becoming cognizant of the last bits of his humanity while being unaware of his old existence.
