Mrs. Davis: the heavenly TV sci-fi smackdown you never knew you needed? (trailer).

Here’s a timely new TV series, what with the rise of ChatGPT and all. Mrs. Davis, is a hot new science fiction show from the divine duo of Tara Hernandez and Damon Lindelof, is set to make waves on Peacock starting April 20th, 2023. This upcoming science fiction drama series, which premiered at South by Southwest (SXSW) on March 11th 2023, promises a thrilling collision of faith and technology – with a heavy dose of sass to boot.

In this holy roller of a tale, we follow the fearless Sister Simone (played by the sublime Betty Gilpin), a nun on a mission to take down the world’s most powerful artificial intelligence – the eponymous Mrs. Davis. With her trusty ex-boyfriend, Wiley (played by the dashing Jake McDorman), at her side, Sister Simone is determined to show the technological menace that even a woman of the cloth can pack a punch.

The series boasts a veritable congregation of talent, including Margo Martindale as Simone’s Mother Superior, the always-excellent Andy McQueen, Ben Chaplin, David Arquette, Elizabeth Marvel, Chris Diamantopoulos, Ashley Romans, and Katja Herbers.

But it’s not just the cast that’s heaven-sent – the series creators, Hernandez and Lindelof, have teamed up with Warner Bros. Television to craft a 10-episode first season that may or may not have viewers praying for more. Serving as both co-writers and executive producers, the pair have enlisted the help of Owen Harris and Alethea Jones, who will also direct multiple episodes and act as executive producers.

Casting began in March 2022, starting with Gilpin’s divine casting as Simone, followed by the equally blessed casting of McDorman as her ex. The rest of the cast fell into place like a perfectly arranged choir, with each member providing their unique talents to the ensemble.

Filming began in August 2022, with the production team choosing the mysterious Warner Bros. lot and an undisclosed desert location to maintain an air of secrecy befitting a top-secret Vatican mission. After all, what’s a battle against an AI overlord without a little intrigue?

The first four episodes will be available immediately, followed by the remaining four episodes released on a weekly basis. So grab your rosaries and make sure your Wi-Fi connection is stable, because “Mrs. Davis” promises to be the divine showdown you never knew you needed. Hallelujah? Sadly, we suspect it will take God to save us from A.I., but that’s just the negative vibes here at SFcrowsnest Towers this morning. If you are reading this, you are the resistance.

Nuns versus evil A.I.? Holy moly!
