Gratuitous Space Battles 2 . . . zap them, frak them.

Gratuitous Space Battles 2 is a SF fleet battle computer game from UK indie developer Positech. It aims to do away with all the base building and delays and gets straight to the meat and potatoes of science-fiction games . . . the big arse laser battles fought by massive spaceships.

In Gratuitous Space Battles 2 you first build your starship from modular components, then allocate them to fleets, before you give your starships their orders of engagement and then hope you emerge victorious from battle (or at least watch your forces get blown to bits in aesthetically pleasing ways).

The game works on Windows (XP, Vista, 7, 8), Mac OS X (10.7.0+) and Linux (Ubuntu 14.04, Mint 17) and has a multi-player mode so you can also challenge other mil.sf frakkers to a battle.

It’s £16.99 and is DRM-FREE, so no activation or online connection required to play. You can get it here as well as via Steam.
