Annabelle: Creation: music by Benjamin Wallfisch (CD review).

All I’m really aware of about the horror film ‘Annabelle: Creation’ (2017) is it’s about a possessed doll out to do some damage to some orphaned girls. That’s all right, as I’m only here to listen to the soundtrack. Oddly, much of the early tracks are played low, no doubt to build up to the action to come. Be careful with how you handle ‘Bee’s Photo’. From thereon, you’ll be looking over your shoulder.

Actually, you’ll find you’ll be doing that a lot as the tracks build up to a crescendo, no doubt designed to follow the pace of the film and whatever happens to the characters. Much of this is mood music but its orchestral feel shows it wasn’t there to necessarily follow the film beats and should be taken seriously. If you don’t, Annabelle will come and remind you.

Alas, the four page booklet centres only on the orchestra and tracks and a few photos from the film.
