Tex

Gian Luigi Bonelli, Aurelio Galleppini · Sergio Bonelli Editore (Italy), 1948 onwards

Tex Willer is a Texas Ranger and a chief of the Navajo, a rugged, incorruptible hero who fights outlaws, corrupt officials and the occasional sorcerer across the American West. In Italy he is a national institution: Tex has been published every month since 1948, and it has been Italy's best-selling comic for most of that time.

The stories are traditional westerns, with a sense of justice and respect for Native Americans that was unusual for its time, and some of the best artists in Europe have drawn them, including Joe Kubert, Paolo Eleuteri Serpieri and R.M. Guéra in special editions. It is the most popular western comic in the world, and almost unknown in Britain.
