Twisted Metal: a road trip across the apocalypse (TV series: trailer).

Fasten your seat belts, folks, and check the expiration date on your milk, because we’re about to hit the road in a world gone mad! Twisted Metal, the new action-comedy TV series based on the adrenaline-pumping video game franchise, is here to serve up an apocalypse with a side of chaos, wit, and souped-up vehicles. Imagine Mad Max and the Wacky Races had a wild night together and nine months later, Twisted Metal was born!

Let’s break down this zany trip: Anthony Mackie stars as John Doe, a chatterbox milkman who can’t remember his past. Does he know how to milk a cow? Unclear. But what’s clear is that he’s just been handed the most bonkers delivery mission ever. John’s got to deliver a mysterious package across a post-apocalyptic wasteland that makes your local rush hour traffic look like a walk in the park. He’s not alone, though. Along for the ride is Quiet, played by the dynamite Stephanie Beatriz, a car thief who’s got a need for speed and probably isn’t up-to-date on her car insurance.

The journey is anything but a leisurely drive through the countryside. Think thundering engines, pyrotechnics, and a set of characters that make a carnival sideshow look mundane. There’s Agent Stone, a gritty wildcard played by Thomas Haden Church, and Sweet Tooth, a maniac on wheels voiced by Will Arnett and embodied by wrestling superstar Samoa Joe. With a name like Sweet Tooth, you’d think he’d be handing out candy, but spoiler alert: he isn’t.

This pedal-to-the-metal escapade is brought to life by Michael Jonathan Smith, who must have looked at the barren wastelands and thought, “What this place needs is a milkman!” Twisted Metal is a 10-episode rollercoaster produced by Sony Pictures Television and PlayStation Productions. The series hit the jackpot with a full season order by Peacock, and the Mardi Gras capital, New Orleans, played host to the filming from May to August 2022.

So, mark your calendars for July 27th, 2023, because that’s when this wild road trip kicks off on Peacock.
