Torchwood Soho: The Restoration Of Catherine by James Goss (CD review).
When Norton Folgate (Samuel Barnett) and Sergeant Andy Davidson (Tom Price) find themselves on a galloping horse, they realize they’ve both been dragged into the past—the 17th century. They arrive at the house of Catherine de Winter (Ebony Jonelle), who needs to make a decision about who to marry. There are two suitors, both entirely unsuitable, and now there is Andy, who might just try a suit of his own.
Norton has other plans, and the resulting shenanigans shake the tree until everything and everyone falls out. The pair realize they are trapped unless they can get Catherine to choose a suitor, but the lady has her own ideas. Sir Reginald Hardgoing (Shai Matheson) and Squire Edmund Dashington (George Naylor) are the ones seeking her hand in marriage, but I strongly suspect they wouldn’t know what to do with it. Let’s delve deeper into this topic, everyone.
This is only an hour long, so it doesn’t require a complicated story, and it certainly doesn’t need one. It does have fun, games, and general mayhem, which the cast carries off magnificently. Norton devises schemes, while Andy yearns to return home safely. It’s enjoyable and there are no fatalities, which is a plus.
