Dolittle (film trailer: from Iron Man and Sherlock Holmes to animal whisperer).

Here’s the trailer for the new Dolittle movie coming out the end of January 2020, with Robert Downey Jr. playing the animal-talking Doctor made famous in the original movie and of course, Hugh Lofting’s early YA novels.

After losing his wife seven years earlier, the eccentric Dr. John Dolittle (Downey), famed doctor and veterinarian of Queen Victoria’s England, hermits himself away behind the high walls of Dolittle Manor with only his menagerie of exotic animals for company. But when the young queen (Jessie Buckley) falls gravely ill, a reluctant Dolittle is forced to set sail on an epic adventure to a mythical island in search of a cure, regaining his wit and courage as he crosses old adversaries and discovers wondrous creatures.

Not much sign of any musical numbers a la Rex Harrison, which is a pity. I suspect unless you have kids who need a cinema trip (as opposed to letting the little rascals play Grand Theft Auto), you might want to give this movie a miss.

Oh, and I’m fairly sure that’s the bear from Golden Compass, but a little less kill-y!
