The ABC Warriors are war robots built to survive atomic, bacteriological and chemical warfare, and they have seen things. Led by the stoic Hammerstein, a squad of seven mismatched machines, including a psychopath, a sorcerer and a robot so large it can barely remember what it's doing, is sent to bring peace to Mars. Violently.
Mills uses them to write about war, class and conscience, with more philosophy than you'd expect from a comic in which a robot is called Joe Pineapples. Over the years it has been drawn by some of 2000 AD's finest, from McMahon and O'Neill to Simon Bisley.
