Transformers-style robots: now as rideable amusement park rides!
You have to love SoftBank’s Asratec robotics arm, along with Japan’s Brave Robotics Company, they’ve teamed up with amusement park tech specialist J-deite Ride to develop a prototype of something I’d pay a Dollar to ride – a real Transformers-style robot you can actually sit inside and have some fun with.
J-deite RIDE is a new 4-meter tall robot for amusement parks that can transform from a bipedal walking humanoid form (robot mode) to a wheel-driven form (vehicle mode) and back.
Up to two people can ride the robot and is operable from the driver’s seat. It can also be operated by remote-control via a wireless network.
Mechanical designer Kunio Okawara cooperated in the robot design. Brave Robotics designed and developed the hardware, including the unique transforming mechanism, and Asratec’s robot control system “V-Sido” performs the robot motions such as the transformation, bipedal walking, wheel driving and more.
J-deite RIDE was first shown at “GoldenWeek DOKIDOKI Festa All Working Cars Assemble!”, which started yesterday April 28th 2018 (finishes May 6th 2018).
It can also be seen at the upcoming IAAPA Attractions Expo 2018, due to be held November 2018 in Florida, USA.
