Here’s the first trailer for the movie version of Andy Weir’s book, The Martian. Everything looks very normal at the launch stage – but I do believed that things go to $£%^ later on the Red Planet.
Colonel Frog is a long time science fiction and fantasy fan. He loves reading novels in the field, and he also enjoys watching movies (as well as reading lots of other genre books).
Well being a retired rocket engineer I can say this looks great. The accuracy of the tech in this brief video looks really fantastic, reminiscent of 2001 which is still my favorite scifi movie and a big part of my career decision. I’ve read the book so I don’t expect a 2001 type extrapolation on the universe and man but I do expect great accuracy in depicting the story that it will tell. And for those who don’t know it is going to a bit like Castaway in space.
