Space: 1999, the UK’s most expensive science fiction TV series. But was it also the best? (video)

Space: 1999 was the UK-made science fiction TV show that ran from 1975 to 1977.

Set in the year 1999, nuclear waste stored on the Moon’s far side explodes, knocking the Moon out of orbit and sending it, as well as the inhabitants of Moonbase Alpha, hurtling uncontrollably into space.

It was the last production by Gerry and Sylvia Anderson, and the most expensive series produced for British television up to that time.

The always reliable Rowan J Coleman brings you the answers in this new video.
