Simulant: science fiction film; don’t annoy your love-bot (trailer).
Simulant is an upcoming scifi film directed by April Mullen, featuring a star-studded cast including Sam Worthington, Jordana Brewster, Robbie Amell, Alicia Sanz, and Simu Liu. The movie follows Faye, a woman who, after losing her husband Evan, decides to replace him with an android simulant. What starts as a perfect replacement for her late spouse soon turns out to be more dangerous than she could have imagined.
April Mullen is known for creating tense and exciting movies, and Simulant is hopefully no exception. It looks a little like a Robohunter Bladerunner blend, from the trailer.
The concept of the movie is both absurd and thought-provoking, and it asks some tough questions about what it means to be human. As technology continues to advance, it’s becoming increasingly relevant to consider what it means to truly love someone. Is it possible to love an android simulant in the same way as a human being, or is there something fundamentally different between the two?
Science fiction has always been a genre that encourages us to think about the future and what it might bring. Simulant looks like it takes this to the next level by exploring a future where humans and robots are becoming increasingly intertwined.
