Sense8 canned.

J. Michael Straczynski’s Netflix scifi TV series, Sense8, is no more – it’s now officially been canned.

Cindy Holland, VP of Netflix original content told SFcrowsnest, “After 23 episodes, 16 cities and 13 countries, the story of the Sense8 cluster is coming to an end. It is everything we and the fans dreamed it would be: bold, emotional, stunning, kick ass, and outright unforgettable. Never has there been a more truly global show with an equally diverse and international cast and crew, which is only mirrored by the connected community of deeply passionate fans all around the world. We thank Lana, Lilly, Joe and Grant for their vision, and the entire cast and crew for their craftsmanship and commitment.”

Fans have acted angrily to the news, suggesting that the Marvel Iron Fist series would have been a better candidate for the chop.

For those who haven’t checked this out yet, Sense8 told the story of eight strangers who experience a vision of the violent death of a woman called Angelica, and then discover that they are “sensates,” humans linked with a mental and emotional connection, making them able to sense and communicate with each other, as well as share their knowledge, language and skills.

While trying to live their lives and figure out how and why this connection has happened and what it means, they are aided by another sensate, Jonas, who is trying to protect them from a similarly empowered sensate called “Whispers”, who leads an organisation that hunts down fellow sensates by tapping into their shared psychic link.
