In short science fiction film Sally Ride by Christoffer Borggren, Lucy leaves a prosperous colony on a faraway planet to attempt to reestablish the interrupted lines of contact with Earth.
She quickly discovers that the link has been intentionally broken and that they are being abandoned.
Because this line is critical to the colony’s survival, Lucy risks her life by returning to Earth to rescue her family and friends.
Lucy immediately encounters opposition from earth-based initiators who attempt to depict Lucy as a mentally sick lady; she now has a lot to prove and a lot of people to persuade in a short period of time.
