Rockets go up . . . now they come down too.

Blue Origin’s New Shepard space vehicle successfully flew to space, reaching its planned test altitude of 329,839 feet (100.5 kilometers) before executing a historic VTOL landing back at the launch site in West Texas. Way to go!

Amazon founder Jeff Bezos scores a victory for science with his rocket firm Blue Origin‘s novel approach to space travel.

What with Elon Musk and his efforts at SpaceX, it’s feeling like the future of space exploration is developing a distinctly corporate private sector feel to it. Maybe that’s why the Alien movies always feature “The Company” in them (see also, Rollerball, Bladerunner, any William Gibson novel etc).
