The picturesque town of Bowness-on-Windermere is about to get a whole lot more colorful as comic art enthusiasts gather for the annual Lakes International Comic Art Festival (LICAF). From Friday, September 29th to Sunday, October 1st, 2023, the charming town will transform into a veritable comic book utopia.

Early Bird tickets for this celebration of creativity and diversity in comics are now available through the festival’s website. So, dust off your cosplay outfits, sharpen your pencils, and prepare for a weekend of panels, exhibitions, workshops, and events tailored for fans of all ages.

This year’s lineup of guests includes a captivating mix of talent, from “The Walking Dead” artist Charlie Adlard to the Eisner Award-winning creator Gerhard. Alongside these heavyweights are Gigi Cavenago, Michael Lark, Marek Rubec, and Rachael Smith, who join an already impressive lineup featuring Dave McKean, Lucie Lomová, festival poster designer Mohamed Salah, and “Awkward Yeti” creator Nick Sulek. With even more international creators yet to be announced, LICAF is shaping up to be a can’t-miss event for comic art aficionados.

The festival’s Lakeview Comics Marketplace will showcase a treasure trove of comic creators, publishers, and other creative talents, offering attendees an opportunity to discover new favorites and connect with the artists behind them. Festival Director Julie Tait is delighted to welcome both new and returning guests, highlighting the international acclaim of creators such as Gerhard and Gigi Cavenago.

As an added bonus, the festival will kick off with a top-secret comics and comedy night—a winning combination that had attendees in stitches last year. Don’t miss out on this one-of-a-kind event; book your weekend tickets now at a special Early Bird price, available until May 31st, 2023.

The Lakes International Comic Art Festival not only celebrates the vast spectrum of comic art but also aims to inspire existing fans and creators while cultivating new audiences and artists.
