Jeff Wayne’s The War of the Worlds musical to be free on YouTube for 48 hours (news).

The London theatrical production of Jeff Wayne’s The War of the Worlds musical is being made free on YouTube for 48 hours as part of The Shows Must Go On! series of weekly streamed shows run, we believe, by Andrew Lloyd Webber to try to keep the rather plague-f*&^$£ed British Theatre scene on life support.

The free 48 hours-upload starts Friday 23rd October 2020, so a couple of days this weekend, basically. This is UK time, so phase-shift accordingly for the rest of the planet.

While uploaded free, The Shows Must Go On! channel is asking audiences to make a donation to support the arts during the pandemic if you watch it and likey, so to speak.

Subscribe to their official channel over at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-6hXc2lzfsk to get your reminder – we’ve watched a few of these and they usually go live in the evening, around the same time your bum would be making contact with a seat in the real London theatres.

This is the War of The Worlds – Stage musical adaptation of H.G. Wells’ alien invasion novel, recorded live at London’s O2 arena in 2012. The reimagined story, which was first released in 1978 as a concept album by Jeff Wayne, is narrated by Liam Neeson and includes performances by Jason Donovan, Marti Pellow and Ricky Wilson.

The 2021 tour of the live show of Jeff Wayne’s The War of the Worlds musical has been put back at the moment to March 2022, sad to say.
