It’s a Dr Who Easter!

The Beeb has just told us that the new series of Doctor Who will be hitting the UK’s TV screens on BBC One during the Easter weekend (that’s Saturday 30th March, 2013, scifi fans). The Doctor will be back in a new adventure written by Steven Moffat. The episode – the first in a run of 8 – is directed by Colm McCarthy whose previous credits include conmen series Hustle, spy-fy actioner Spooks and Morse-light TV series Endeavour.

The following eps will include scripts written by Mark Gatiss (Victory of the Daleks, Night Terrors) and fan favourite Neil Gaiman. No news yet about the BBC America release date (before you ask). Expect it to be a couple of weeks behind, based on previous performance, though. [UPDATE: Charissa D. Jelliff writes in to say that the BBCA has now announced it will air the same day in the US].
