Have the galaxy’s older alien civilisations already settled it? (science video)

Is it possible that the answer to the Fermi conundrum is that the galaxy has already been populated by previous extraterrestrial civilizations? Civilizations that are old, ancient, and foreign.

Would they be able to find us?

The Fermi paradox, named after physicist Enrico Fermi, is the apparent contradiction between the high likelihood of the existence of extraterrestrial civilizations and the lack of evidence for or contact with such civilizations. One plausible explanation for the Fermi paradox is that advanced civilizations may have already come and gone, leaving behind little or no evidence of their existence.

The idea that there may have been previous extraterrestrial civilizations in our galaxy is a concept that has been explored in science fiction for decades. Some scientists and researchers have also considered this possibility as a probable explanation for the Fermi paradox.

One argument in favor of the possibility of ancient extraterrestrial civilizations is the vast age of the universe, which is estimated to be around 13.8 billion years old. If the universe is this old, and if life can arise on other planets, then it is possible that intelligent life could have evolved and developed on other planets long before it did on Earth. These civilizations could have reached a level of technological advancement far beyond what humanity has achieved today, and they could have colonized or even exhausted the resources of their home planet, leading to their decline and eventual extinction.

If such ancient extraterrestrial civilizations existed, it is likely that they would have left behind some form of evidence of their existence. However, it is also possible that the evidence has been erased by time, or that it is in a place that is currently beyond our reach.

As for whether these ancient civilizations could find us, it is possible, but it also depends on if they are still around and how advanced their technology is compared to ours. If they have become extinct or if their technology is not advanced enough to detect us, then they could not find us.
