Fubar: new spy-fy TV series on Netflix with Schwarzenegger (trailer).

Are you tired of spy thrillers that take themselves too seriously? Do you want a show that’s just as ridiculous as it is action-packed? Look no further than Fubar, the upcoming Netflix series starring Arnold Schwarzenegger as a CIA agent named Luke.

The premise is as convoluted as it is amusing: Luke’s daughter, Emma (played by Monica Barbaro), is also a CIA agent, but they’ve been keeping their secret lives from each other for years. When they finally find out the truth, they realize they don’t actually know anything about each other. Cue wacky hijinks and explosive action sequences!

Fubar boasts a star-studded cast that includes Jay Baruchel, Aparna Brielle, Andy Buckley, and Gabriel Luna. Plus, we can’t forget about the always hilarious Fortune Feimster, who plays a character named Ruth (or Roo, if you’re nasty).

The show is produced by Skydance Television and Blackjack Films, and it’s directed by Phil Abraham. The pilot episode is set to premiere on May 25th, 2023, and the series will consist of eight episodes.

Filming took place in Antwerp, Belgium, and Toronto, Canada, and the production went under the working titles Utap and Fubar. FUBAR is a military term which stands for “F****d Up Beyond All Repair/Recognition,” which seems like a fitting title for a show this ridiculous.

We can’t wait to see Arnold Schwarzenegger in his first leading role in a scripted television series. We’re hoping for plenty of one-liners, explosions, and maybe even a few Terminator references thrown in for good measure.

Strikes us here at SFcrowsnest as a little like it was inspired by the film True Lies, but without the royalty payments to whoever owns that property.
