Dune and Foundation: how the future might work, or just space opera? (video)
Rowan J Coleman has recently been loving two science fiction literary adaptations, Dune Part One and Foundation. And both of these shows/books made me think about their distinct world-building styles.
They conceive worlds that are quite different from those shown in Star Trek and Star Wars, in which individuals seem to be able to bounce from one planet to another as simply as boarding a bus. So that got Rowan thinking: are Dune and Foundation more plausible in terms of imagining a future spacefaring civilisation?
